ADVANCED LOW POWER MODES

NC1701 FEATURE INCLUDED AS STANDARD

DEVICE WAKE AND SLEEP

WHAT IS IT?

A telematic device has to know when to wake up and go to sleep, in conjunction with a vehicle’s status. If a telematic device is drawing power from the vehicle battery, either via OBD port or via direct battery connection, when the vehicle is not charging, it is essential to keep its current draw at a bare minimum to prevent eventual battery drain. This will result in being unable to start the car and internal system settings being lost.

This can be a huge issue for fleet managers

HOW IT WORKS

To combat this NC1701 can be configured to enter “sleep” or “wake” modes using different vehicle sources:

  • Battery voltage change
  • CAN bus activity
  • Advanced ignition sense signal

This eliminates the problems surrounding false “wake up” or “always on” conditions found in other telematic devices which result in eventual battery drain

THE BUSINESS MODEL
