WHAT IS IT?

Vehicle security has to be the Number 1 priority for any Connected Car device or platform. At Nebula we take security extremely seriously and have devised a layered approach that prevents unauthorized access to any vehicle that is using our technology

HOW IT WORKS

Chip security:
All communications with our NC1701 chipset are fully encrypted from “end-to-end” using 256-Bit Encryption. All our Config Files use this method of security which means, although they can be transmitted to our devices by a client’s back-end, there is zero possibility that the contents of the file can be interfered with in any way.

Vehicle safety:
Every single data retrieval command that a Config File contains is individually tested and marked, as to whether it is Safe to Use in Motion or not. This ensures that normal ECU running behavior is not interrupted by read requests from NC1701. Furthermore, when certain data is required when a vehicle is in motion, we are able to use CAN bus listening or sniffing techniques to retrieve the data safely.

From our 25 year history of automotive engineering, we understand that certain car’s ECUs do not respond well if they are asked diagnostic queries while running. For example, it is not recommended to try and communicate with any safety critical system i.e. ABS, Airbag, when a car is moving but it is quite safe to do so when the car is stationary.

We have applied this knowledge to NC1701 Config Files so that we can offer extensive warranties and SLAs against our IP far in excess of those of our competition.

THE BUSINESS MODEL

All security features are included as standard in the NC1701 base firmware and require no further service level cost.
